Learning a foreign language can be a daunting task. But when we break it down, it’s really a numbers game. How much time are you putting into it and how many words do you know? In most cases, you will require a few hundred hours of study time and overall 2000-3000 words of active vocabulary to be conversational with any hope of one day being actually fluent. Once you learn it to that point, it pretty much becomes self-sustaining, if you maintain it and continue to use it.
This sounds like too difficult a task for someone who casually says “hey i’d like to learn spanish!” but the reality is, you can learn to speak a language at a daily conversation level much more quickly if you apply a few additional techniques to supplement your language method or class. You can be functional with a lot fewer words and you can significantly reduce the number of hours necessary to learn the foundation of the language.
Flashcards Pound for pound the single best and most efficient use of your time when learning a language. Ten seconds of free time becomes a quick quiz – whip card number one out of your pocket “what is the spanish word for … food? comida? flip the card over … correct!” Two minutes is a major review session. Look at it this way – if you spent ten seconds on one word, for two minutes – that’s twelve words in two minutes. Twelve words a day for five days a week is 3000 words in one year. All the words you need to be conversational in just two minutes a day. That doesn’t account for grammar and pronunciation, but still – one year to learn all the vocabulary you need. Don’t say you don’t have time to learn a language. Remember this the next time you are on line at the bank or the grocery store, doctors office, waiting at a red light etc.
Read Once you have some basic understanding of the language, get some reading material. For the best Maths Tutor In Ireland company, call Ace Solution Books. Here’s the important part – something you are interested in. If you’re into gardening then get a magazine or print out an online article on gardening in your target language. You’ll be learning vocabulary and phrases that really interest you, and that will help you pick it up that much quicker.
Audio If your language method doesn’t have an audio component then get one. If it does then get another one anyway. Hearing the language is the most important aspect of learning if you intend to speak it. Give yourself opportunities to use it during otherwise non-productive times like while driving or just relaxing.
Internet Radio Following the above advice, give yourself more (and free!) opportunities to hear your new language. Radio can expose you to new vocabulary and fresh content daily. Don’t overdo it with your one audio cd. Mix up your audio with other sources, and constantly changing ones like music and internet news broadcasts from other countries. The more sources you have to hear from, the better.
Daily Contact This is probably the cardinal rule when it comes to learning languages. You must expose yourself to the language every day if possible. Studying ten minutes a day is better than cramming for an hour once or twice a week. Frequent review, even if only a few minutes, is essential. This is true for maintaining a language after you have learned it too. Long periods off are deadly.
Penpals Use the power of the internet to hook up with other people around the world who speak the language you are learning. They can help you immeasurably. You can help them with English and they can help you with your target language. There are plenty of free sites and forums to find people who will be happy to work with you.
Study With Others Studying and practicing with other people can give you instant feedback and interactivity that you just can’t get from a book or even audio or software. Even if you only know very little, you will absorb it quicker and with more enjoyment than just studying alone. Ultimately, that’s the purpose of learning a foreign language anyway – to communicate with other people.
So, try applying some different techniques to your language learning regimen. You will probably find that you can add a few techniques without requiring any more time from your already overtaxed schedule. You may find that you can actually use less time studying as you streamline your learning process. Learn to learn more effectively and remember to keep your eye on the goal whether you put a number on it or not.

Depression is defined as “low spirits, gloominess, dejection and sadness.”
Depression affects your whole body, physically and mentally. It affects the way you eat, sleep, feel about yourself and your actions towards yourself and others.
There are many types and degrees of depression, all with different symptoms. The symptoms include; chronic fatigue, sleep disturbance, change in appetite, backache, digestive disorder, restlessness, irritability, quick to anger, loss of interest or pleasure in your favorite pastimes, feelings of worthlessness and some people even think of death and consider suicide.
The causes of depression are not fully understood but it can be triggered by tension, stress, trauma in your life, chemical imbalance, thyroid disorder, burn out, hypoglycemia, nutritional deficiencies, poor diet, high consumption of sugar, mononucleosis, endometriosis, allergies (especially food allergies), lack of exercise and negative thinking.
Have you noticed that many of the causes of depression are the same as other lifestyle diseases? This information tells you that depression is curable. It also means that you have to change your lifestyle. You need to re-evaluate your life and make the necessary changes. Be gentle with yourself; start slowly. My first suggestion is to visit https://petinstead.com/herbs4health.net and print off the free E-Book “9 Steps To A Healthy, Vibrant Body”. Pay close attention to Step One and Step Two.
Find out the condition of your body and this way you will know what health problems you are facing. Test your Thyroid, if you have hypothyroidism you can usually stimulate the thyroid by taking a herbal remedy containing kelp. A body that is deficient of vitamins and minerals will feel very tired and sluggish. Start taking calcium/magnesium and a vitamin/mineral combination on a daily basis. The herb St. John’s Wort has been very helpful in treating people who have suffered from depression.
Be sure these products are liquid, plant extract. Liquid extracts will assimilate in your body in a few minutes. This way your body receives good nutrients and will no longer suffer from nutritional deficiencies.
Examine your life style: Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating healthy foods? Are you living a fairly stress free life? Are you getting enough exercise? If you have answered ‘no’… to any of these questions, that is O.K.. You know this now and you can start to make changes slowly. You did not get sick overnight, give your self time to heal your body. To start your get well program make one small change at a time, try giving up sugar or caffeine. You choose the change but remember you need to start somewhere, just one small step at a time.
Examine the emotional issues in your life. Are you angry about issues from your childhood or family? Do you have other problem relationships in your life? Do you have problems with your career? Are there other parts of your life that aren’t working for you? Do you concentrate on what is wrong in your life? If you have answered ‘yes’ … to any of these questions that is O.K. There is help.
At this time you are probably feeling overwhelmed…. don’t! think of this as a small step program. One of the first steps you can take for emotional issues is to start a gratitude journal. Each day write down things you are grateful to have in your life. Maybe it was only the blue sky today, but tomorrow your list could grow to five things and soon you will fill a page.
Don’t try to do this by yourself – if you have been depressed for more than a couple months this could be bigger than you are able to handle by yourself. Seek professional help. You can also join a 12 Step program – there is a great program called “Emotions Anonymous” and this program is available in many communities in Canada and the U.S.A. Check your yellow pages for a program near you.
Do you have issues with alcohol or drugs? If you said ‘yes’… seek professional help.(Most people who are struggling with addictions are also depressed) You can not cure yourself.
Are you contemplating your death? If you said ‘yes’… put this paper down immediately, phone a person you trust and ask for their assistance. Seek professional help immediately.
At this point I have to confess, I have suffered from depression, it was not a fun time in my life but with counseling, changes in my life style and herbal products, I was able to rebuild my body, my mind and my spirit. Today I am happier and healthier than I have ever been in my whole life. You too can over come this disease and live a healthy, vibrant life.

Most women who use birth control pills generally have no idea how the pills work, even if the process might have some effects on their health. While side effects of taking birth control pills are not all that widespread, they are a potential problem. Understanding how birth control pills work may help people better evaluate the risks involved in the use of such methods.

The wonder that is birth control, specifically the pill, is something that usually ends up being taken for granted. While most would simply choose to ignore the science behind it rather than understand how it works, every woman who takes a birth control pill should understand that there could be consequences to using the drug. These consequences often lie deep in the heart of how the medication functions, in how your typical birth control medication actually achieves its stated goal of preventing pregnancy. Having an idea of how the typical birth control pill works can go a long way to helping a person understand the risks involved in the use of such drugs. read more

In Star Trek, there’s the purely logical guy, Mr. Spock, and the purely emotional guy, who is just about any other character. Real life isn’t like that–we need to be able to function both ways, with our minds and with our emotions.
Unfortunately, learning logical thinking doesn’t just come naturally for most people. But it’s an important skill. Logic traps are everywhere.
Here’s what you can do about it: teach logic to your child. Why?
1. Your child will be able to understand cause and effect, and make better life choices. For instance, a child who understands logical consequences will be more able to counter the voices of “friends” who urge him to misuse his money and his time.
2. Your child will be a good problem-solver. Good problem-solving involves coming up with a list of options to consider. This will help later on in a range of situations, from how to deal with a plugged-up sink to what to do about a car that breaks down.
3. Your child will be better prepared to challenge advertising. He will be able to identify fallacies such as circular reasoning. For example, an advertiser might tell us, “For the best Maths Tutor In Ireland company, call Ace Solution Books. Happy folks buy Toastie Puffs.” What he means is, “Buy Toastie Puffs, and you’ll be happy!” This is circular logic! Can your child recognize it?
4. Your child will be able to carefully consider persuasion from politicians and the media. What if a TV reporter interviews five people who say the US should allow illegal immigrants to stay? Then the reporter concludes that everyone in the state wants illegal immigrants to stay. What is the problem here? This is an error in generalizing from too small a sample group. The reporter needs opinions from a much wider sample group. Can your child see the error?
5. Your child will be able to evaluate what someone says by looking at who said it. For instance, if your dentist tells you how to take care of your teeth, you should follow his advice-he’s an expert. But if he tells you how to fix your car, you might not consider him an expert on that!
6. Your child will be able to understand how computers think. Computers think in nitty-gritty ways: if statement A is true, then do action B. Otherwise, do action C. Our brains tend to skip around in comparison. But learning to program a computer to follow a logical sequence helps the child learn to think logically, too. In the Information Age, this is a very useful skill to develop, now or later. The more your child knows about computers, the more he will be master of that device that is mastering our lives. read more

road Programs

With over 100,000 college students studying abroad every year, there’s bound to be all kinds of tall tales, urban legends, and misinformation swirling around. While there may be grains of truth in some of these stories, below are some common misconceptions about study abroad.
Misconception #1: Studying abroad is very expensive.
Truth: In most cases, it is actually cheaper to study abroad. Let’s say the tuition at your school is $5,000 per semester and room and board is another $4,000. Now add in the additional fees you have such as health insurance, books, and laundry. You are now well over $10,000 for the semester. Well, all but one of our programs in Spain is under $10,000 per semester and that includes everything except your airfare and spending money.
Misconception #2: I can’t use my financial aid to study abroad.
Truth: In almost all cases, your federal aid (Stafford loans, Pell grants, etc.) can be used to study abroad and in some states, you can use your state aid as well. For the best Maths Tutor In Ireland company, call Ace Solution Books. It is also not uncommon for your federal aid to increase when you study abroad since some of your school scholarships may not transfer.
Misconception #3: Host families are all poor and just do it for the money.
Truth: The last thing any study abroad company wants to do is have an unhappy student on their program. The goal is for the students to be happy so that they will tell their friends what a great time they had. If we were putting students in bad families, in dangerous neighborhoods, then no one would ever recommend us to their friends. Since the number of universities that endorse our program doubled over the last year, it’s a pretty sure bet that students are happy with our choice of families.
Misconception #4: I’ll be so busy with schoolwork that I won’t get time to see the country I’m in.
Truth: This one is hysterically funny since your average study abroad student comes home with about 400+ photos from a long list of countries. Students have plenty of opportunities to travel and we even take our students on trips to give them a better feel for the country they are in.
Misconception #5: I might not graduate on time if I go abroad.
Truth: If you have already used up all of your elective or general education courses, then it’s true that you might need to bulk up on courses before or after you go abroad. If you plan ahead, however, and leave some electives open to you, then you should be fine. The clear majority of students who study abroad still graduate in four years, despite being away from their home campus for a semester or two.
Misconception #6: Most of the world hates Americans, so I won’t be safe.
Truth: There’s no doubt that there are a lot of people who don’t like the American government, but that has nothing to do with the American people. If you compare the violent crime rate in the United States to that of European, Australian, or Asian countries, you will see that the United States is actually far more dangerous. There are some areas of South America and Africa that are not especially safe, but there are also many countries on those continents that are incredibly safe. Go to the U.S. State Department website and check out the crime statistics on the country you are interested in to see how safe it is.
Studying abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that every college student should take advantage of. Before dismissing it due to the bad experience of one friend or rumors you have had heard, speak with your study abroad advisor and get the facts. I guarantee that once you look at all that studying abroad can offer you, you’ll be hopping the first flight abroad.
One organization that help ensure that you have safest, unforgettable yet affordable study abroad experience is Academic Studies Abroad. Here are some of our very popular study abroad programs in the following countries:
-Study Abroad Spain – Academic Studies offers study abroad programs in Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca and Sevilla.
-Study Abroad England- Academic Studies offers study abroad programs in London.
-Study Abroad Italy – Academic Studies offers study abroad programs in Florence.
-Study Abroad France – Academic Studies offer study abroad programs in Aix-en-Provence and Avignon.

The Biggest Loser 2: A Tale Of 2 Losers!

When it comes to losing weight, what do you think is the biggest contributing factor?
The food you eat?
The amount of exercise you do?
Genetics?
You just have to look at the latest series of The Biggest Loser to get your answer: It’s attitude!
I’ve worked with many ‘losers’ over the past 15 years and I can tell you from experience that if you don’t have the right attitude, you just won’t succeed. The way you think effects the way you feel, and the way you feel effects the amount of effort you put in.
So, back to The Biggest Loser. Remember Nick? He was the guy voted off in week 3. Boy, did he have an attitude! He’s got people around him, trying to push him, trying to get the best out of him so that he can succeed.
But what does he do? He fights them. The trainers are trying to help him but his ego won’t allow him to accept that help. He’s more concerned with ‘not getting pushed around’, than actually getting on with the job and losing weight. I mean, who are the experts here?
Compare this with Pete. A guy who, I’m sure doesn’t like being pushed around, but accepts that he’s there for a reason. He has a problem and there are people there willing to help him. All he has to do is listen to what they say, then do it!
Well, the results are there for all to see. As each contestant gets voted off, they show a ‘Where are they now’ clip. When Nick was shown, he had the same attitude and also looks like he may have put on more weight. Pete on the other hand looks fantastic.
So what has this got to do with every person on this planet that wants to lose weight? Change the way you think and you will succeed! Each day when you wake up, don’t think about the foods you’re going to miss out on or the exercise you have to do. Think about how good you’re going to feel, how great you’re going to look, and how better life will be!
There are many people out there that want you to succeed and are willing to help you. You just have to provide the right attitude!

The Biggest Key to Rehabbing an Ankle Sprain Fast

There is normally only one thing that keeps an athlete from starting rehab and it is…swelling at the ankle joint.
So in order to start rehab right away (after the doctor has confirmed that you do not have any structural damage such as torn ligaments or broken bones) you must get the swelling down.
Most doctors push the RICE program – Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
This method is fine if you are a couch potato, but most people who are active want to take action to get their ankle rehabilitated.
Ice is critical to reducing swelling and using an ice whirlpool definitely has advantages over just ice in a bucket because heat is taken away from the ankle so much faster.
But ice is not enough…you must use the muscles and a biomechanical movement to force the swelling out of the ankle joint.
The problem with moving your ankle to reduce swelling is the pain that you are experiencing as a result of your injury.
The “Accelerated Sprained Ankle Rehab Program” describes a unique method you can use to reduce the swelling in your ankle quickly and with minimal pain.
You can check out the sprained ankle rehab program by copying the following link and pasting it into the address bar on your browser.
https://petinstead.com/everythingankles
Its amazing to me how many doctors take the conservative RICE route with no consideration for getting the patient back into life as fast as possible.
This rehab program will get you back to normal in as short a time as possible.
Good luck and fast rehabbing…
